چکیده
Background: Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) is a systemic autoimmune disease characterized by periductal lymphocytic infiltration of the salivary and lacrimal glands, which results in reduced secretory functions oral ocular dryness (1). In addition, patients often have extraglandular manifestations, such as interstitial pneumonia nephritis, appearance autoantibodies anti-Ro/SS-A La/SS-B antibodies. Salivary gland ultrasonography (SGUS) typically used to evaluate findings glands; thus, we can severity disorders due SS using SGUS real time (2). Objectives: To identify clinical indices, including activity, associated with glandular involvement evaluated SS. Methods: We enrolled (n=115) non-SS sicca subjects (n=90) who visited Nagasaki University Hospital between 1995 2019. The patients’ classifications were based on 2002 American–European Consensus Group (AECG) classification criteria (3). exhibited symptoms but did not fulfill AECG criteria. indices age, sex, focus score (FS), symptoms, Saxon test results, Schirmer’s anti-SS-A/Ro antibody positivity, anti-SS-B/La anti-centromere (ACA) serum immunoglobulin G levels, European League Against Rheumatism activity index examined. (US) was calculated imaging (hypoechoic area, hyperechoic band, irregular border) (4). Results: US significantly higher than that subjects. found significant correlations FS Multivariate analysis revealed FS, ACA positivity variables independently These same primary patient group (n=96). Patients had scores compared those negativity, whereas high. greater bands negativity. Conclusion: This study indicated reflected sialadenitis SS, suggest might show specific changes fibrosis, only (5). References: [1]Ramos-Casals M, Tzioufas AG, Font J. Salivary gland ultrasonography as a predictor of clinical activity in Sjögren’s syndrome
PURPOSE Primary Sjögren's syndrome is a multisystem autoimmune disease characterized by hypofunction of salivary and lacrimal glands and possible multi-organ system manifestations. Over the past 15 years, three sets of diagnostic criteria have been proposed, but none has included salivary gland ultrasonography. However, recent studies support its role in the diagnosis and prognostic evaluation ...
متن کاملComparison of lacrimal and salivary gland involvement in Sjögren's syndrome.
OBJECTIVES To determine the performance of different tear and salivary tests applied in Sjögren's syndrome (SS) and to disclose how these tests relate to common serologic tests in SS. DESIGN In addition to the routine ocular and oral tests for diagnosing SS (Schirmer test, rose bengal score, unstimulated whole saliva flow, and parotid sialography), tear breakup time and flow rate of glandular...
متن کاملMandibular Involvement in Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis Associated with SAPHO Syndrome
Introduction: SAPHO syndrome is defined as the association of a group of rare sterile osteoarticular disorders and inflammatory skin diseases whose etiology, although not yet determined, probably involves genetic, immunological and infectious mechanisms. The recurrent multifocal osteomyelitis, an inflammatory disease, can be associated with this syndrome even as a single event. Case Report:...

Objective(s): To review the findings of the patients with Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) having technetium-99m-pertechnetate (99mTc-pertechnetate) and gallium-67 citrate (Ga-67) salivary gland scintigraphy in the past eight years. Methods: The patients with SS, who were referred to our department for salivary gland scintigraphy during January 2008-December 2015 were studied using both 99mTc-pertechneta...
متن کاملHydroxychloroquine therapy in patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome may improve salivary gland hypofunction by inhibition of glandular cholinesterase.
OBJECTIVE To determine whether (i) cholinesterase activity is increased in the saliva of patients with primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS), (ii) increased levels of cholinesterase of lymphocyte origin could interfere with the secretory activity of submandibular acinar cells, and (iii) hydroxychloroquine at therapeutic doses could interfere with cholinesterase activity. METHODS The Ellman method ...
